A method for estimating pedestrian critical gap using microsimulation

چکیده

Estimating critical gap is crucial for modelling pedestrian level of service at crossings. Critical becomes more challenging in signalized crossings because the proportion pedestrians seeking gaps during red usually unknown. Besides, willingness – or lack it to cross signal indication varies by and local characteristics, which makes acceptance even challenging. The main objective this study propose a method estimating using Vissim. considers that all seek on red, parameter calibrated each type having delay as calibration target. results showed MAPE values 2% 9% two studied This was compared three existing methods estimation. proposed yielded best estimations delay, followed HCM’s.
